1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner

This 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner was repainted red and white under previous ownership, and the interior was reupholstered in color-coordinated trim. Power comes from a replacement 312ci V8 linked with a two-speed Fordomatic automatic transmission, and the car is equipped with a power-retractable “Hide-Away” hardtop, power steering, 14″ steel wheels with covers, an AM radio, an aftermarket air conditioning system, and retrofitted front and rear passenger lap belts. This Fairlane 500 Skyliner is now offered with transferable New York registration.  Introduced for the 1957 model year, the Fairlane 500 Skyliner was the first mass-produced car equipped with a power-folding hardtop. The car was previously refinished in red and white, and exterior details include hooded headlights, dual side mirrors, rear tail fins, dual exhaust outlets, and a chrome grille, bumpers, window surrounds, and side moldings.  Body-color 14″ steel wheels feature Ford covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by drums at each corner.  An interior refresh involved reupholstering the bench seats in white vinyl and red cloth in addition to replacing the carpeting, retrofitting an aftermarket air conditioning system, and installing front and rear passenger lap belts. The cabin also has an AM radio.  The three-spoke steering wheel wears a chrome horn ring and fronts a sweeping 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles.  The 312ci V8 is said to have been previously replaced. It was factory equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and rated at 245 horsepower when new.  Power is routed to the rear wheels through a two-speed Fordomatic automatic transmission. Aftermarket mufflers have been installed.
